Francis Phang (sound familiar) described as University graduate age 31 was sentenced on 4 October to 5 years jail term and 5 rottan !! The other roommate Geoffrey age 55 was jailed 5 years without rottan cos he is too old to be canned . What is he doing with this old man ??? Anyway, Francis will be 36 years when he is out from the Prison and can start life afresh . IMO, I think the jail sentence is fair and the judge is lenient enough in view of his educational background .
Drug abuse is viewed seriously in Singapore. The death penalty is mandatory for those convicted of trafficking, manufacturing, importing or exporting more than any one of the following:
15g of heroin
30g of cocaine
30g of morphine 500g of cannabis
1.2kg of opium 200g of cannabis resin
Possession of such quantities is deemed as prima facie evidence of trafficking.
Those convicted of unauthorized drug consumption face maximum imprisonment of 10 years, fine of S$20,000 or both.

Mr Nguyen from Melbourne may not be a hardened criminal, but he is not an unsuspecting victim either. He knew what he was doing and the penalty if he was caught. Had he succeeded, he would have made a lot of money. If we let off a convicted courier because of age, financial difficulties or distressed family background, it will only make it easier for drug traffickers to recruit more "mules", with the assurance that they will escape the death penalty.

Am personally impressed with Osim's usqueez so decided to get one from Mindy Lee who is promoting at CK Tang on Friday 5 Oct 2007 . Promotional Price $475 inclusive of delivery plus $40 Tang’s shopping voucher. After all Osim is a Singapore product so why not support the local industry. Some of their products are designed by PSB's team of leading product designers. I think their designs are impressive, useful, pretty and classy. I shall placed the OSIM under my computer table for a good leg massage while working on my computer and hopefully will improve blood circulation .

I read an article appearing in Straits Times on Sunday, September 30 that youngsters got no respect for others right to some peace .This is rather true and rather disturbing ….
NOT FIRST WORLD BEHAVIOUR!
15 youngsters, not more than 21 years old, entered the restaurant and occupied two tables. They started talking loudly among themselves.. Desiring to finish my lunch in peace, I told the group that the restaurant was a public place and that they should not behave as though it belonged to them. I also said they had to respect others” right to some peace and comfort, and tone down. In most developed countries including Japan which I visited recently, most people would not behave in this way, out of respect for others.
Singapore has evolved over some 40 years and our education system should, by now, have imbued in our young some semblance of acceptable social behavior. The behavior of this group of youngster indicates otherwise.
It is thus little wonder that when I go to the movie, I also invariably hear mobile phones ringing and some people engaging in loud conversation, much to the annoyance of other movie goers. As we progress as a nation towards First World status, certain acceptable norms must be upheld.
However, the behavior of this group of youngsters suggests we may sadly be heading the wrong way !
