Australia racist rant,Desperate student

Bloggers laugh at me when I say "Australia is Racist " During my eight years stay in Melbourne I encountered many such incidents including my recent experience on 4/08/07 when I wasn't driving at all waiting for the fucking police officer to move off from his parking lot so that I can parked in his lot. He decided to come over to my car and issue me a parking ticket when I did not commit any offence ! I have posted that incident in OVERSEAS SINGAPOREAN portal to warn fellow Singaporean about this racist issue .

On August 17, 2007 01:50pm Herald Sun-Australia's biggest-selling daily newspaper reported this racist rant which I have reproduced below .

Laws launches racist rant

WITH just three months left in the job after 55 years on air, radio star John Laws has let loose with a racial rant against Asian drivers. This morning's tirade was directed at a Chinese-Australian caller named "Helen".
Helen was describing the trouble she had recently experienced with the cross-city tunnel. She had been fined for failing to pay the toll. Laws asked her why she hadn't paid the toll and Helen said she didn't know that there was one.

"I never travel to east (sic), that's the first time I travel to east." Talking over the top of Helen, Laws said: "Sounds like you travelled from the east." He continued: "Obviously you're Asian are you? Helen said she was from China. And away Laws went.
"I understand that Chinese drivers are probably the worst drivers on the face of the earth," he said. "You probably fall into that category along with the rest of them." By this time Helen was superfluous to requirements and was cut off. "I'll give you even money that sweet Helen's little, too. She's about 4' 8. I can see it. They look out between the steering wheel and the top of the dashboard. "You've got to... well, I won't put it that way... well, I will: you've got to keep your eyes open. "Now I'm going to be screamed at for saying (sic) that I'm being racist," Laws then said. "I'm not being racist. I'm telling you the truth."
Laws, who is due to retire after 55 years in broadcasting on November 30, has a long history of making politically incorrect comments on air.

Again I have posted this in Singaporean in Melbourne !

Jo in TX posted this ……

Well Tao Dee, sad to say but the US has a John Laws equivalent too... Don Imus, a radio talk show host who made a racial remark about some black female basketball players and it sparked a whole sleuth of counter fire. Personally, I think these two are ignorant jerks! And it's unfortunate that all around the world there's going to be people who are ignorant and love to fuel the racism fire.
But at the same time, there's 2 sides to the story, and I say that because some times, the people who are targeted bring it on themselves. Like in Helen's case, she could have made the effort to find out whether there's a toll booth or keep a look out for the sign. It was also how she said it. Apparently, it sounded like she couldn't speak well and all the more got targeted. On the other hand, Laws' remark that "Chinese drivers are probably the worst drivers on the face of the earth" and his other remarks were uncalled for.
Then there's the issue of minorities not making an effort to integrate with main stream society, like in the case of muslim migrants in France. They do things that make the majority dislike them.
In the case of Imus, his remarks got Rev. Al Sharpton all riled up. Sharpton is a prominent spokesperson of the African American community. I can't stand him because all he does is rant and rave... no substance behind what he says.
Anyway, I'm sorry to hear what happened to you. Hopefully you get the problems resolved.
I think one of the ways to counter such narrow mindsets of these ignorant people is to show them that we're all educated, able to speak and hold ourselves well, we're not a bunch of backward people like them... hopefully, they'll get a taste of their own stupidity! We also need more people like Condaleeza Rice (US State Sec.), Oprah Winfrey, Bill Cosby, Elaine Chao (US Labor Minister) as an inspiration to the minorities and prove these racist idiots wrong!

In Melbourne August 4 ,2007

On 4/08/07 @ 11 am along East Doncaster Post Oiffce , while I was waiting for this fucking police car (TXT262) to move out of the parking lot I answered an oversea call . The police officer instead of moving out his car he came to me and told me I was using my handphone while driving . WTF ! My car was stationery and wasn't driving . The question is while waiting to park my car does this constitute an offense "using mobile while driving"
Policeman in Victoria are real road bully !! Maybe because am a Asian . I felt totally unjust and have no respect for this kind of police officer who is out to hassle Asian . Fine , if I was caught using my mobile while driving my car on the road but not when my car was stationery in the waiting bay .

Finally I was asked to reverse my car and park along the main road while he issued me me a ticket that cost me $150 + 3 points . No matter how I pleaded was useless !

infringment notice 1

How to pay ??

hi,
I am sorry to hear that. I think you have a rather good case for appeal. Money aside, getting 3 demerit points for an offense you did not commit is not worth it.
Please keep us posted if you are taking the matter further.

COMMENT RECEIVED
Sorry to hear of your incidents.
I was reading the road laws guide for my learner permit test.
It says drivers "must not use a hand-held phone while the vehicle is moving or is stationary, but not parked". This applies to P2 probationary drivers + fully licensed drivers. I do not know your exact situation but if your car was not parked in a parking bay, it may be difficult if they go strictly by the law. I suppose the law is one thing but the police can use a little compassion and discretion when executing it....

For all learner + P1 probationary drivers, it says "no mobile phone use is permitted, hands free or hand-held, or any messaging of any kind". So from this, can we deduce that P2 prob. + licensed drivers can use hands free phone (?) since this is not stated in the other rule?

Anyway, drivers... pls be careful since we are at their mercy.

Diabetic Medicine
JANUVIA is new in Singapore !!

JANUVIA a once-daily pill that, along with diet and exercise, helps lower blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. It's a type of prescription diabetes medicine called a DPP-4 inhibitor (blocker). DPP-4 blockers enhance the body's own ability to keep blood sugar levels balanced. A doctor may prescribe JANUVIA alone or together with certain other diabetes medicines to help control blood sugar.

28 Days Prescription

Important Information About JANUVIA

JANUVIA is not for patients with type 1 diabetes or for patients with diabetic ketoacidosis (increased ketones in the blood or urine). If you have kidney problems, your doctor may prescribe lower doses of JANUVIA.

In studies, side effects were usually mild and similar to side effects in patients taking a placebo (a pill without medicine). The most common side effects were upper respiratory tract infection, stuffy or runny nose and sore throat, and headache.
