People will continue to fall in love, of course .But staying in love, getting married and remaining wedded has become harder. Anyway, Happy Valentine’s day to all bloggers .
A couple of weeks ago before the Chinese new year a young man in his late 30 driving a BMW 7 series scolded me for parking my car near the far end of Shaw Centre 8th floor car park . He said “Uncle, this is not a parking lot” I told him “ I will be loading and unloading here .Is there a problem ?” He replied “uncle – you old man don’t have much time left you better enjoy yourself! Just before I could lectured him he drove off his car. Yes, we lead fast-paced, highly stressed lives, but this harsh and sarcastic- tongue-lashings young man comment was most uncalled for. Yes, no deny, I am old but I might outlived this young man. To have a son like him is a total disgrace with no respect to the elder and I believed his own father is a fucking old man !
At this stage in my life, I do not have the privilege to do what I want! I still have 2 young boys. Having to accommodate and compromise. I'm not alone, despite the fact that I have no father, mother and brother and sister but I still have a young wife and two children still of schooling age. I'm not totally free. I feel ashamed to say this that I do not lead an active social life unable to able to interact with people and still keep my freedom due to family commitments.
I am deeply concerned as to why K and J are not married at this age. You both are no longer young and you will face the same consequence as me i.e. unable to enjoy your old age. Perhaps your parent took a rather “objectionable” approach. Anyway, I shall not comment further as this is W’s domestic family matter. Am just voicing my concern on this Valentine ’s Day. Maybe K and J were influenced by others' great expectations. I think that is the source of the greatest future misery!
The reverse of this argument though, perhaps that it's not their fault - it's Uncle and Aunty Fault for not setting a good example. Divorced and Remarried etc. Setting a rather high standard eg. if you cannot afford why get married! Does this sound familiar ??
