It's is the holiest day in the Buddhist calendar. Commemorates the birth,enlightenment and attainment of nirvana of Gautama Buddha .

Based on a resolution passed at the Conference of Fellowship of Buddhists in 1950 , Veask Day is marked on a full moon day during the month of May in most countries. But as there were two full moons in May this year,some countries such as Malaysia commemorated it on May 1. Singapore,Thailand will observe it to-day .

The Singapore Buddhist Federation believes it is more meaningful to mark Vesak Day after "Yu Fo Jie", or bathing of Buddha day , which was held on May 24 . The ceremony signifies the purification of mind and body .


Gautama Buddha is the founder of Buddhism.His attainment of enlightenment through meditation serves as an inspiration to all devotees.

In Singapore , devotees will congregate at temples and take part in candlelight procession whey they pass on the light from candles to one another . Devotee also chant sutras and offer incense to Buddha and bathe the Buddha sculpture wit holy water that have been blessed by monks .

Absurdity

Basically I am a peace loving person as far as my xxxxxxx are concerned but thinking about the incident when XXXXXX wanted to bash me over my blog has filled me with disgust and anger over the last few days . I am sure many bloggers will agree with me that it a family disgrace. Such an unforgettable incident creates tears in the fabric of family unity .Logic was thus answered with irrational thinking . I have suffered enough ! Does the law allow anyone to go round and bash people up for no rhyme or reason or punch anyone as he pleases or whom he dislikes .This not only infuriates me for the grievous of family injustice that I had suffered , it now worries me a great deal . While am aware that bashing is currently "non-seizable" offence in Singapore but the police report was therefore necessary if I want to pursue the matter by making a magistrate's complaint .I do not wish to be terrorised or bullied in one way or another where I do not seem to get anywhere .

I have read my posting not once but many times and found there was nothing wrong with my statement . Like I said it was non-defamatory nor insult and see no reason why I should locked my blog .

My pride is now wounded and my blog is not meant to win popularity stake .I am feeling BETRAYED,UNAPPRECIATED AND REJECTED ! Will I spiral into depression ?? The Answer is NO - I am ready to live the rest of my life with INTEGRITY and not GUILT .

Why stoop to their level. They are acting crazy cause you hit right on. So in fact you should be happy and smiling you got spot on. By confronting them just let you fal straight into a trap they set. U made them fools now they trying to Do it to you. So y bother. You can report to police for your safety and send them a msg you have already police protection. Should anything happen 1st on the list is them.

Good Evening and thank you for inviting me to be the speaker for the evening. As this is intended to be a happy occasion, I shall keep my speech brief.

I understand some of you have traveled great distances to be here to-nite and it gives both the families the pleasure to you in this evening’s celebration of at the marriage of XXXX to XXXX.

It is heart-warming to see the bright cheer on all your faces. On behalf of Mr. XXXX I would like to thank you for the many volunteers, families, relatives and friends who have put together to-day’s event. The good turnout to-day attest to the value you place on strengthening ties with my family and communities. An emphasis on family is fundamental to the value systems of all ethnic communities. Yes we are here to attend the wedding banquet and occasions such as these serve to foster togetherness and bonding, and to promote a balanced life.

You and I stand to-day in a brave new world. Things that held in the past are being challenged. While uncertainty is now, more than ever, the order of the day, more new possibilities are also emerging.

I wish you all an interesting and enjoyable evening here to-night .

Marriages are made in heaven. But, remember , so thunder and lighting .

We are here to-day to witness and celebrate a passage of life, a passage of love, which XXX and XXXX have chosen to enter upon. They have decided to become more than just lovers, but a family. Moving from one stage of life to another .

On Tuesday morning we went down to Immigration Department and we did insert $4.00 coins for the parking fees for an hour. But the parking warden issued us a parking ticket IMMEDIATELY after we left . Totally absurd ! In all there are 6 parking lots and we did inserted coin for parking lot # 1 . Quite impossible but this is happening in Melbourne especially when they know the car belongs to an Asian . WTF

23 May 2007 -Wednesday

A day spent on cleaning up the house and our regular window cleaner was cleaning the gutter next door and he walked over requesting to clean all our windows . For that 1/2 hour job the charges was $140 .Phew !!

Ivan was there cleaning the pool at 9.30 pm .
The spa was left without water .
To be filled with wine since Melbourne having
acute water shortage . Haha

The front & backyard lawn needed a "hair cut" badly !

The front nature strip is the owner's responsibility unlike in Singapore . Singaporean are lucky back home !! .Fuck in Melbourne if you dun lawn your nature strip you get a ticket from the council . WTF . A cool 2 hours job.

The insurance contractor arrived at 8.30 am
to have the door fixed and painted .
He finished his job around 12 noon .

One miserable apple left .The rest eaten by the birds.
The Buddha with a broken butt is finally covered by some plants .

Went to Boxhill for lunch with Uncle Lim and bumped onto my fellow
Singaporean friend whom I have lost contact some 20 years ago .

This is what he got to say about Singaporean broken dreams !

It was a pleasure having met you in Boxhill and thanks for the diet coke at your home! Next time it got to be SHIRAZ or Cabernet with lots of beef!! Do not invite me to swim, it will freeze my butt off!

Australia is a place of many broken dreams for Singaporeans.....they came with great expectations, but over time they get disappointed with how things work, and the glass ceiling(less apparent now). But it is a good place for retirement though. Just bring money, the rest will sort itself out.....

On 23 May I had dinner with Steve Leung and family at a chinese eating house off Blackburn Road 2 doors away from Canton Restaurant .

Went to my regular workshop as my car battery
(fitted 3 years ago) went flat .
Battery cost $210 n Australia . Rather expensive .

Liquor and wine are still relatively cheap here . 2 bottles of whisky for $48.00 . Duty free 20/200 Marlboro Menthol will set you back by $41.99 . You call this Duty Free. ??

Melbourne is facing acute water shortage .Bananas cost $5.99 per kg . So guess you have to drown your sorrow with the the cheap liquor and wine before the price goes up . Filled up your bath tub with wine and shower with it might be the solution .

Palm trees that need plenty of water are dying in Melbourne and guess you have to plant more cactus and Hugh Ala Vera since Melbourne is fast becoming a desert . Smart move initiated by an Italian restaurant operator .
