THE cold snap across Victoria has created dangerous driving conditions and left hundreds of households without heating or hot water.There have been widespread snowfalls, icy temperatures and high winds.
Black ice has been reported on main roads near Bendigo and Seymour in central Victoria, and at Ballarat, Clunes and Ballan to the west of Melbourne, Victoria Police said.
Gas suppliers struggled to keep up with huge demand for heating.Households in Glen Waverley, Northcote, Mt Martha, Altona Meadows, Sydenham, Dandenong and Balwyn are among those that reported problems from late afternoon.
Ice warning lights were operating on the Calder Highway in the Black Forest at Woodend, north of Melbourne.
