There's a major earthquake in China.

On 12th of May, at 2:28 pm in Beijing time. A 7.8 magnitude earthquake happened in Wenchuan, which is just 100 km away from the capital city (Chengdu) of Sichuan province. This is the biggest earthquake in China over 30 years, and it destroyed half a million of schools, houses and factories. More than 30,000 people have died in Sichuan, and the number of death is increasing.

So far, they have suffered from 3000 times of aftershocks, more than 20 times of aftershocks are above 6. more than 10,000 people are being buried in those collapsed buildings, 7841 people are still missing, 198,347 people are in hospital...one of schools collapsed, there are at least 900 students are being buried in the ruins. Those numbers are AWFUL!

As a Chinese who is from Chengdu, I feel really distressed... So I send this email to seek for help!

There will be a donation organized by QUT Chinese Students' Association.

All of the money will submit to Chinese Embassy after donation, and make sure it goes to the right place.

In Wenchuan (Sichuan), over 8,000 people have died, 80% of the building are destroyed in that city, only 3,000 people in the city survive.

One historical building is destroyed. It has thousands of years’ history.


In Deyang (Sichuan), around 9,405 people have died.

'hold my hand, I can see hope'


Many schools collapsed, thousands of students are being buried in the ruins, because students were all having classes when the earthquake happened.

He is still alive after 52 hours, but after rescuing him, he died in 10 minutes, because of haemorrhage.

Some students are rescued from the ruins after 10 hours' salvation.


A middle school in Dujiangyan collapsed, 300 students died, only 100 students in that school survive.

So many students died in school.



Can you feel how these parents feel?
'One Child Policy' makes them loss everything and destroy their only hope...

So when they found this girl’s body, she was still grasping her pen. Because she is from a poor family, her parents sold everything to send her to school…
