Subject: Sad news. My father died today.

Beloved Friends:
It is with great sadness that I wish to inform you that today Monday the 26th, 2008 at 5:21pm Eastern Standard Time, my father Fernando Cesar Mendigutia breathed his last breath at Kendall Regional Hospital in Miami, Florida. He was 94 years old.
Shortly after taking his supper last Friday (5/23/08) my father was struck down by a stroke. At the hospital the doctors told us that they expected him to die that same evening. But, he defied the odds….for awhile…and today after lapsing in and out of a comma he died surrounded by his family, grandchildren, in-laws and friends.
Though we take some comfort in the knowledge that he is resting and in a better place and we’re all well aware that we are all fellow travelers in the same road, we grieve because now when we call out his name he will not answer.
Funeral arrangements have not been yet made but in accordance to his wishes he will be cremated after a mass has been said in his name.
