HUGE demand is driving up Melbourne's property prices, but the number of houses on the market in inner-city suburbs this year has barely increased. A report by the Urban Development Institute of Australia says house prices in Melbourne have risen more than any other Australian capital over the last quarter. The Institute says the median house price in Melbourne rose by two per cent between December and March to around $375,000. According to the report, inner and middle suburbs in Melbourne are now unaffordable.
