Sakura International Buffet Restaurant

My two boys have been talking about this rather "cool" place called Sakura International Buffet Restaurant since their return from Melbourne . Finally we decided to give it a try!

Had buffet dinner at Sakura International Buffet at Clementi Woods on Saturday 28 April 2007.

BUT, the quality of food sucks. Chinese and Japanese cooked dishes are poorly made when it's a Japanese establishment. Hardly any Japanese inside the restaurant and it is supposed to be near a Japanese community! I think they want to make more money by cutting corners. Most of their food is quite tasteless. Singaporean seems to love this place and seen to be taking more than what they can eat. WTF ... The eatery is child-friendly which explains why you sometimes have to put up with screaming toddles. Am turn off by the loud chewing, raised voices and people who carry out a personal conversation at the top of their voice .Total lack of social graces . Uncles, Aunties grandma and grandpa on the adjacent table were seen to be talking with their mouth full. I wonder why they dun get choked! Then the other table full of Ah bengs with techno ring tones mars the eating experience. Some parents (slave drivers) seen to be using their children as to bring plate after plate of food when they can hardly finished.My two boys gave a rating of 9/10 while I gave a rating of 1/10 .

In 2007, Mother's Day will fall on Sunday, May 13.

Our elders teach and nurture us, our parents sacrifice to send us to school, to give us the best leg up in life that we can. How many have heard or experienced the stories of how parents would slog through hard work, or how they don't seem to know how to have fun or take time off to enjoy life, just to save that little bit more money for their children's education, or piano lessons, or tuition classes, or overseas education? We as the younger persons, our obligations are to respect and honour their sacrifice. We do this through filial piety. We make sure they are cared for and respected. We put them highest on our lists and in our hearts because that is our payment back to them. When you fail to do this, you fail in your social contract and have forgotten what it means to be Chinese. And THAT, is the root of our culture.
