Memorial Service for Dinah in Singapore

This was the message received via email concerning Dinah Memorial Service .

We have finally arranged the dates and times for Dinah's memorial in Singapore. It will be held :

Location: Chijmes Hall (Chapel)

Date: Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Time: 7.30 - 10.30 pm - many request to hold this in the evening rather than in the day.

Memorial Service: 8.30pm - 9.30pm - conducted by Pastor Richard Ang.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: NO FLOWERS PLEASE. Should you wish to make a donation, Dinah has requested donations be made to the Singapore Cancer Society or to an orphanage she helped start in India. For the latter, please write cheques to me so that I can give it to them here in Canada.

If you are informing others whom you know that would like to attend this memorial service, please tell them the "No flowers" message as well. It will be much appreciated.

As many of you know, Dinah passed away on Feb 26th and this memorial is being held one month after her passing. We held a wake on March 3rd that was attended by many of our close friends here in Vancouver. The funeral home did an excellent job and she looked very natural and peaceful. Dinah picked out the clothes she was to wear and it was what she wore during this Christmas, a lovely sweater set. The following day, on March 4th, we held her funeral service at our Church which was again attended by many people. It was an elegant and formal but yet casual affair, with eulogies, singing of Dinah's favourite worship songs and a wonderful devotion given by Pastor Barry Buzza. I want to thank the Church group for putting up such a wonderful service and I know Dinah would have appreciated it very much too. Ps. Barry also gave a very touching devotion and his words reflected Dinah's life and her passion for life. Pastor, all caught the essence of Dinah and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and help. Ladies in my care group and all the church members who helped, thank you for all your arrangements. The reception held after the service was very lovely and exceptional, from the food to the decorations and lighting to the service. Dinah thanks all of you too.

After the service, the family brought the casket to the crematorium by mid-afternoon. We received the ashes the following day and today, March 6th, we interned her at Robinson Memorial Cemetery located here in Coquitlam. I want to thank all of you who have shown us support and have upheld us in prayer not only these last few days but over the past 6 years. It has been a very difficult time for me but I am encouraged by your love and kindness. Thank you all for your well wishes, your flowers and your donations. They will go a long way in helping the charities Dinah loved and raised money for when she was here with us.

I am sending this email to many friends who are neither in Vancouver or in Singapore. Dinah thinks of you often and holds each and everyone of you close to her heart. I know as we talk and she would bring up your names and the wonderful emails that you have written, the support given and the many kind words offered. Thank you very much for all you did as you did make a difference in Dinah's fight these last few years. There is no need for you to travel and attend this memorial service as Dinah would not have wanted this. She wants you to remember her as she was, memories of a time spent with each and everyone of you.

God bless you all and once again, thank you very much for all your encouragement, support and love for me and my family.

Daniel.

Hi all,
I am writing this mail on behalf of Dinah. Dinah has not been feeling well lately. Though she has been to the hospital to drain the fluid in her lung and heart, she is easily tired. Her energy level is very low and she needs assistance for all her physical activities. She has also loss her appetite.

She has read all your mail but unfortunately she will not be able to reply to each of you. She will not be able to correspond with everyone. Dinah wants to thank all of you for your kind thoughts and prayers. Despite her condition, Dinah has kept up her strength spiritually and place her complete trust in God.

Thank you very much for keeping in touch with her. She appreciates all your concern and kindness.
God Bless,
Jean (Dinah's sis)
