Lunar New Year hails the beginning of spring and a time for celebration, where we send away the “old” to usher in the New Year !

People wear new cloths from head to toe to symbolize starting anew in the New Year. Red clothes, shoes, under wears are preferred as the color is believed to scare away the evil spirits and rid of bad fortune.

Why should we sit together to have dinner on New Year‘s Eve?

The traditional dinner on New Year’s Eve is known as the “Reunion Diner” or “tuan Yuan Fan” in Mandarin. All family members gather and celebrate by eating good food that signifies prosperity, longevity and abundance.
